Our annual Interhouse Cross Country Competition or, as it is more popularly called, our “Sardine Run”, was held on Friday 20 November.
Following a few days of uncertain weather and rain-showers, Friday greeted our athletes with blistering sunshine. The Sardine Run is the only occasion in the year where every student gets to compete against the rest of the school on an equal footing. The purpose of this event is to enhance school spirit and comradery whilst giving our senior athletes an opportunity to showcase their talents.
Our congratulations to all of those who completed the course and especially to those who acquitted themselves well.
Well done to Mr McAvoy who completed the race in 26 min and 17 sec as the first staff member home and to Mrs Dalais who was the first female staff member to compete the race this year.
My thanks to particular to the Durban Metro Police for their efficient assistance and as ever to our willing staff who were all involved in officiating.
Congratulations to Alex Leven in winning the Sardine Run and to Jordan Theron who was the first junior in. Crusaders proved themselves too good for the rest of the Houses in winning this competition. It was interesting to note how close the competition was between the rest of the Houses.
