Celebrating the Past – Looking to the Future
The Knights is an association for Old Boys and supporters of Northwood, Northlands and Beachwood that was launched to provide a forum for those interested to meet and share fellowship on a regular basis, while providing support for the school in various capacities. Supporters of The Knights include all past and present parents and teachers of these schools, local businesses and the community at large.
The Knights is run within business principles with the primary objective of the Knights to financially support the school leadership through various initiatives. These initiatives can range from small monthly debit orders into our Northwood Educational Trust, through to the financial support of learners in our “Support A Squire” program as well as assistance with ongoing capital projects. A large reason for our success as a school is because of the immense contribution of our parents and Old Boys that have so willingly showed support and love for our amazing institution. This has seen many projects take place over the course of recent years that have significantly added to the educational experience of all of our boys.
Annual events such as Reunion Weekend, Old Boys Day, the prestigious Circle of Valour Awards Presentation, as well as our regular countrywide and international Knights gatherings are designed to reconnect with past friends and keep in touch with current happenings at our school.
In order for Northwood to remain as one of the premier boy’s schools in the country, we are very reliant on our Old Boys and Community support. No matter where you currently are in the world, you will always be a Northwood Old Boy with a link to your former school. As an Old Boy or supporter of Northwood, Northlands and Beachwood, we welcome you as a Knight!
We look forward to your ongoing support of Northwood and the Knights.
Circle of Valour Awards
The Circle of Valour Award is intended to profile the success of the many Northlands, Beachwood and Northwood Old Boys who make us proud, and is the pinnacle of achievement for those who attended any of the three schools.
An award winner will be recognised for his achievements at the highest level since leaving school. He will have achieved iconic status in his particular field of expertise and the community of North Durban.
Whilst having made his mark in the world, he is the type of person who remains humble and often goes unnoticed despite his excellent achievements. In short, a Circle of Valour Award winner will espouse the very values that were taught to him during his days at School. His behaviour and achievements will set an aspirational example to the community, Old Boys, and especially current pupils of Northwood.
Winners will be chosen by the Board from these nominations and be acknowledged at a Gala Dinner that will form part of The Knights annual Reunion Weekend. All winners will become lifetime members of the Knights.
