Northwood Welcomes Divan Van Wyk as Director of Cricket

We are extremely excited to announce Divan Van Wyk as our new Director of Cricket as he takes over the reins from Andrew Shedlock, who we bid farewell to at the end of August 2017.

Divan matriculated at Grey College in 2003. He played both Craven Week and Coke Week whilst making the SA Schools Team in 2003 and SA Colts in 2002. He also played at the u19 Commonwealth Games for South Africa and during 2004 he captained the SA u19 team at the u19 World Cup.

During his matric year he made his debut for the Free State men’s team and in 2004 played his first, first class game. After numerous matches for Free State and the Eagles / Knights he made his move down to Durban with his wife Gisela.

After making 146 in his first game for the KZN provincial team, Divan played in the next game for the Dolphins and never looked back, establishing himself as part of the opening pair of the Dolphins team with Imran Khan.

During his 7 years at the Dolphins he played over 50 first class matches for the Dolphins and many one day and T20 matches. He also captained the Dolphins. He was part of the squad that won the Ram Slam Trophy and won four provincial trophies with KZN Inland.

During his playing career he won the best 3 day player award at the CSA awards. In total he played 135 first class matches with an overall average of 40.05 with 19 100s and 35 50s.

He has one of the highest batting averages at Kingsmead as an opening batsman.

Since 2010 Divan has been involved in coaching at Kloof High School and running his own cricket academy. In the latter part of his time at Kloof he held the position of Head of Boys Sport.

Divan became a father this year and is a proud dad to Andrew, now 5 months old.

Divan is looking forward to starting at Northwood and is excited to bring his experience and expertise to take our cricket program forward as well as adding value in other sporting codes at the school.
