Northwood Season off to Great Start with DHS Victories and Festival Successes

What a great week for Northwood School Cricket!

All our teams defeated DHS in which was a clear indication of the quality of cricket at Northwood.

In the 1st Team match Northwood sent DHS in to bat first and with some magnificent bowling from Northwood, DHS were bowled out for 73 runs. In response Northwood managed to chase down the total within 10 overs and without loss, beating DHS by 10 wickets. This team continues to develop nicely and this is showing in some of the recent results. At Michealmas week, the boys showed great composure by beating both King Edward School VII and St Albans and loosing to St Johns College by just 3 runs.

Special mention must go towards  Jawaad Aziz in U14A for scoring 107 not out to lead his team to an imposing total of 249. (Our U14A team beat DHS by 123 runs.)

Our under 14A cricket team are doing exceptionally well, with great results at the Shaun Pollock Festival beating Grey College, Hudson Park, Queens College, Parktown Boys High to go with their tournament victory at the Penryn Festival in July.

Well done to all involved. It’s great that the processes we are implementing to improve cricket here at Northwood are working, although we still have lots to do.

Lastly, we are very excited to announce that Riaan Minnie is now employed at Northwood as the Cricket Skills Development Coach.  We welcome Riaan back to his old school and are excited to have him involved. Very exciting times!
