Northwood 1st Team Hockey Victorious vs Fighting DHS

On Saturday, the Northwood 1st XI took on the DHS 1st XI at Riverside. The match started with the Knights moving the ball exceptionally well but not threatening the DHS circle enough to take advantage of all their possession. However it was midway through the first half when Finn Whittle cleverly played a 5 yard free hit to his advantage and put Brent Van Der Linde in on the far post to take the lead into half time, 1-0.

The second half the Northwood boys were given a more direct game plan that seemed to pay off and it wasn’t long before captain Tyronne Laaks produced some sublime individual skill to eliminate several DHS defenders and roll the ball passed the despairing DHS keeper to double the lead. The last chukka saw Tyler Tomsett’s diving turn over put Dylan Ferreira who sent a rocket home. However, well done to DHS who kept fighting and with one of their only chances snuck in a last minute goal to leave the score 3-1 at the end of the match.
